Losing the Sentimentality

There’s the need to dress in style and the need to wear what seems to feel right. Wearing these vermeil gold locket cufflinks represent the latter. At first, you would think otherwise, wearing any pair of 14kt gold cufflinks is of course stylish and elegant. Truth is that, both are satisfied in such a pair of cufflinks. Only, having the photos and initials of four of your favorite people or think in the world is more sentimental than stylish.
That’s it. Sentimental. Never did fashion become sentimental. Even statement shirts do not necessarily mean that you are wearing something important to you emotionally or mentally. Fashion is all about aesthetic value and making up a good image.
Gwen Stefani can become the rock alternative chick we could not relate to but in the end, she could be the sweet and sassy pop icon we know of today. And we saw that in her as a fashion critic. We rarely talk about the changes in terms of musicality, lifestyle or principles. Fashion and that’s it.
No wonder our view of artists today is as subjective and fleeting as that. It’s because we choose to think of ourselves as superficial beings who only need a grand makeover to change how we feel about ourselves.
We often say that to wear fashionable clothes will boost our self-confidence. That just by looking at our skinnier, sexier and younger in the mirror, we could already boost our confidence. That by wearing a sophisticated pair of gold cufflinks, we could already change the way our bosses think about us.
