They are the land of the Celts, the Celts whose technological and cultural advancements were of no question back in the classical times. They were able to survive and became independent from any European empire back then. That’s how their culture became so rich and unadulterated.

 

In fact, alternative subcultures and countercultures nowadays take a lot from the Celts. Wiccan is now widely acceptable compared to before when those who practices witchcraft were punished through burning at the stake. Now they are just there doing their thing without harming others.

From cars to young busty blondes, everything seemed to be exploding. Your curious eyes can’t help to pull its focus from the blast, being paradoxically the center of attention when just about everything is in chaos.

 

With shrapnel dispersing wildly in the surroundings, metal commingles with wood and earth. Dead soldiers with their severed limbs nearby appear as broken toys. Yet, your conservative dad would still want you to believe that this was because of the natural law of polarity. The cause for grenades is the never-ending battle between good and evil completing its modernity.

 

But grenades doesn’t care about polarity for it does not choose whom should it inflict. It explodes only to locate itself in all of our dreaded existence. The way it destroys is meant to complete. And being in such a role might be the most comfortable an explosion would be for it would be horrific for grenades and explosions to assume and take over continuation which life necessitates in itself. Or is it?

 

If we were to use a grenade to make an analogy, why not look at yourself as a brave young soldier who just returned from war to fight not only for your country but for the free world? You are about to receive a medal from the president in honor of your courage. It is of course a better consolation than having your left arm still intact. After all, having that left arm since birth wasn’t able to attract the president’s attention. Now, being a hero, you do not only have the president pin you a medal, you also get the nickname Explosive.

 

Everyone in the ball, from waiters to high-ranking military and government officials have memorized your face, your nickname and your missing left arm. But why your missing left arm when you still have the right? Grab everyone’s attention by wearing silver cufflinks. Military cufflinks like grenade cufflinks would surely make you stick in everyone’s minds as a hero. You’ll surely need that kind of recognition to continue life, especially in such a sorry state.

In fact, Homer Simpson, of The Simpsons fame, may be the only cartoon character best loved by beer-chugging, couch-heating, and donut-chomping men all over the world. His passion for drinking surpasses even that of lumpenproletariats from third world countries. Fanatics have even compiled tons of lines from Homer, through the years The Simpsons have spent on television that discourse about the mundane and transforming it into philosophy. Totally, there is no reason for someone not to like Homer Simpson other than being a yeti. Hell, even yetis would probably learn drinking draft if exposed long enough to Homers bickering.

 

And because of this, Homer is an industry. Shirts, mugs, accessories—thousands have been sold spreading the Homer Cult. Once, even communists in China commented the single biggest threat to their culture which adheres to Mao Zedong’s concept of discipline is the uncontrolled swelling of Homer’s hegemonic nature in just about everywhere The Simpsons is showed.

 

That’s why it is not a surprise to have silver cufflinks made with Homer’s face in it. Although it’s quite ambiguous, cufflinks are often used in formal occasions. Funny cufflinks like those with Homer designs (and they would definitely be funny) seems to contradict the occasion.

Bob, the guy in the cubicle next to me, got extremely excited over the party theme that he even bought a retro cufflinks package to make sure he had the right accessories to match his crazy colorful outfit. Although he had always been the loud and loquacious sort, Bob was borderline outrageous that night. He wore polka dot hot pink bell-bottomed pants and psychedelic silver long-sleeved un-buttoned shirt accented with those new flashy but dignified cufflinks. We all agreed that those links really tied the whole outfit together. Still, I honestly think you would have to see it to believe it. Needless to say, Bob was the life of the party! We were all surprised to find out that our Staff’s Director had apparently been planning to award the best dressed that night. Who won? Take a wild guess! It is not without a flash of envy and a slight drool that I looked on as the Director handed Bob the prize – cufflinks collector gift sets! Not inexpensive, they were a much-coveted prize but no one could come close to contesting Bob’s outfit. In fact, come midnight, Bob was auspiciously standing directly under the mistletoe surrounded by all the single ladies waiting to have their turn with the undisputed star of the night. It was a well-planned and flawlessly executed move by the Director’s Secretary that managed to whisk him away for that much-coveted midnight kiss! Bob was truly the winner through and through!
